Delivery of the in-house Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work Course at WatchHouse Coffee Shop Locations in London
The Brief
WatchHouse provides a truly authentic coffee experience in beautifully designed spaces. Their story began in an old 19th century watch house in Bermondsey. They turned this tiny space into one of the most sought after coffee experiences in London and have since expanded in a further 10 locations.
Watchhouse’s popularity means they are experiencing higher volumes of customers on their premises and are also expanding their workforce. They recognise that a sudden illness or accident could happen within one of their shops and would like to be fully prepared to help in these situations.
The Solution
Bill in the Train Aid office spoke with Katie who works in a managerial role within the company. They discussed completing an Emergency First Aid at Work course for 12 staff members at one location, with the possibility of rolling out the course to all of their locations.
Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work covers all of the typical sudden illnesses and accidents that could happen within a shop / kitchen setting. It was decided that senior / chosen staff members would complete the course and would be qualified to administer first aid in the event of an emergency on the premises.
The course would need to be on a day of the week that worked well for the business needs so Bill made sure this was possible and booked the course on a date of Katie’s choice. She then helped Bill with all the details needed to set the course up and Train Aid’s Gray was assigned as the instructor on the first course.
The course ran smoothly with everyone completing all of the practical tasks and multiple choice questions. Everyone seemed to enjoy the day, whilst at the same time feeling they learnt valuable information that could be used to save the life of a customer or even a fellow colleague.
All of the learners on the course were issued with the Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work qualification. These were sent (electronically) to Katie ready for her to distribute to the relevant coffee houses.
Since then a total of thirty WatchHouse employees have been certificated with a further twelve due to undertake the qualification. All of the employees will undertake refresher training at the end of the 3 years qualification period to refresh their skills and to be updated on any changes.
