The Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) is nationally accredited (RQF) and recognised throughout all industries in the UK. 

This qualification includes both workplace and vocational assessing, giving you the knowledge and skills to assess competence of staff in both the workplace and training environments.

About this course

The Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (previously A1) equips learners with the skills to accurately assess the competence of candidates.

The course has three units:
  1.  Understanding the principles and practices of assessment 
  2.  Assess occupational competence in the work environment 
  3.  Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding 

The course assessment is a portfolio of evidence that consists of a written assessment, four workplace assessments and four vocational assessments.

You do not need previous experience in assessing, but must have access to a minimum of two candidates to carry out your practical assessments.

Classroom

Our 3 day traditional classroom course is delivered regularly at both our London and Manchester venues.

You will complete the theoretical Unit 1 during the three days, working alongside your peers, under the guidance of an experienced assessor. We will also help you prepare for the practical element of the course, planning your workplace and vocational assessments.

After the course you will return to your workplace to carry out the planned assessments with a three month deadline for completion. Our assessment team will support you remotely during this period, providing guidance and feedback.

This format enables companies to train a group of staff onsite and design the training around their specific needs. 

Up to a maximum of twelve staff can be taught on each course on your chosen dates. 

Both the face to face classroom delivery and the video webinar options can be chosen for in-house courses.

Webinar

The three day video webinar course simulates the classroom without the need to travel. Recent advances in technology mean these virtual sessions can be really interactive and innovative.

As with the classroom course, learners complete the theoretical Unit 1 and plan their workplace and vocational assessments under the guidance of their tutor. 

After the three virtual days learners are given three months to complete the eight assessments, with our assessment team available for support through this period.

Learners complete the theoretical Unit 1 using step by step video guidance.
