The Level 3 Paediatric Basic Life Support course teaches the learner important lifesaving skills related to the infant and child age groups. The knowledge gained can help provide the correct care in an emergency situation.

The course also includes adult protocol for peace of mind when providing first aid to all age groups. 3 hours of CPD points are available by completing this course.

About this course

Paediatric Basic Life Support teaches a core set of life saving skills that can be utilised to help a sick or injured infant / child during a medical emergency. The three hour course is completed by a series of practicals on resuscitation manikins.

The course is assessed through practical observations and multiple choice questions at the end of the course. The following topics are covered on the course:

  • Primary survey / DRABCD
  • Secondary Assessment 
  • Recovery position 
  • CPR
  • AED 
  • Choking

Learners are awarded a nationally recognised certificate which is valid for three years and demonstrates competence in Paediatric Basic Life Support. Adult protocol is also included on the certificate.

Learners at its conclusion are awarded a nationally recognised electronic certificate which can be used in and out of the workplace to demonstrate competence in the field of paediatric basic life support.
